A few Family Fun in the latest magazine I found. All Natural Play Clay & Let's Find Letter Treasures.
All Natural Play Clay
If the kiddos eat it, it will probably taste icky, but it won't hurt them at least.
Ingredients:
1 cup of flour
3/8 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
**Natural dye
**Dye colors
Brown-3/8 cups plus 1 tablespoon hot water & 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
Pink-3/8 cups hot beet juice
Orange-3/8 cup hot water and 1 tablespoon paprika
Yellow-3/8 cup hot water and 1 tablespoon turmeric
In bowl combine flour and salt. Pour in oil and your chosen natural dye, and stir well. Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes. If the clay is too soft, add a bit more flour. Store the clay in air tight containers in the fridge.
Let's Find Letter Treasure!
A good outdoor thing to do with the family for Autumn, and hopefully fun for all ages. Finding letters in your natural surroundings.
One of the ideas that may be fun for smaller kids is to make a photo alphabet book. The other one that I like was this:
making your a frame name out of the letters you found and framing your child's name. Super cool, and they will be excited about it cause they made it.
