YOGA TIME

"The goal of your practice is to wake your body up so you don’t wake up one day in ten years and say, ‘where did the last ten years go? Where was I?’ The goal of your practice is to wake you up enough to your life that if you slip, if you fall asleep you can say, ‘wake up, wake up, WAKE UP!’"

- (90 minutes of pouring sweat in Baptiste hot yoga basics)

YOGA TIME

Here are 5 ways to express gratitude through yoga.
1. Let your intention be to appreciate every moment. Savor the breath in your lungs, the air on your skin, and the stretching sensation in your hamstrings.
2. Make your movements an offering. I remember how thankful I am whenever my hands are pressed together at my heart in Anjali Mudra and when I come to standing at the end of a Sun Salute.
3. Count your blessings instead of your breaths. It's nearly impossible to do this for an entire practice session, but I love to spend one long held pose (Pigeon is a good one) thinking of one thing I'm grateful for with each breath.
4. Focus on the positive. It's easy to get frazzled by what you perceive as shortcomings on the mat--maybe you're not as flexible as you used to be or an injury is inhibiting movement. Make a commitment to use your yoga practice to observe all the amazing things you CAN do instead and gratitude will spill over into other areas of your life as well.
5. Never skip Savasana. Nothing makes me thankful like a nice, long Corpse Pose after an intense yoga class. All the gratitude meditations in the world can't match the experience that comes when tired muscles finally get to melt into the floor. That's gratitude at its best.

"Move your body in any way one hour a day. Sweat five times a week. Eat mindfully. Treat your body like it is the love of your life. The body is a gift, and the best way to express gratitude for a gift is to use it!"

To get up into boat BOW! (thx mambbasphere), grab (around the ankles/not so much the top of the foot, i say) the legs.
1. get the heels away from the butt
2. get the thighs off the mat
the chest should lift.
but you want to think of shoulders away from ears, long lower back, and keep the knees from splaying wide open.

YOGA IN THE BEDROOM: LET YOGA TRANSFORM YOUR SEX LIFE

Yoga enthusiasts are well aware of the fabulous benefits of a strong yoga practice; improved flexibility, strength, toned lean muscles and a calm centered disposition. All of these benefits can have nothing but a positive impact on one’s sex life. Our relationships operate on a physical, mental and spiritual as does yoga we will examine how a consistent yoga practice can enliven and transform your sex life with your beloved.

It is not necessary for both partners to practice yoga for you to see improvement in your experience, however, the benefits of you both practicing will be exponentially increased if you both practice. If you can arrange to practice together it can be a wonderful way to ground and strengthen your relationship outside of the bedroom. And it’s really a lot of fun.

Many of the aspects that make Yoga so wonderful can also serve to improve your experience in the bedroom. In yoga we seek to unify the movements of the body with the breath. Simply being mindful of the breath and coordinating movements helps to relax and free your mind. When you are with your beloved, applying this simple concept of slowing things down and being mindful of the breath, matching breath with movement–all in concert with your partner can dramatically change the nature of your encounters.

Women who have been practicing yoga might notice how their improved flexibility, strength and control over their body helps them enjoy their sexual experiences even more. Yoga helps you to become acutely aware of your body and as you become more knowledgeable about your own body you will begin to feel more in touch with what pleases you. As you communicate on a deeper level with your partner, you will learn more about what pleases them.

Another of the benefits of practicing yoga is increased confidence, which is very attractive and sexy. You may feel more empowered to explore many new sexual positions, which can be compared to Yoga asanas (poses). Inspired by the Kama Sutra, which is an ancient volume in Sanskrit full of instruction about the art of making love, couples can explore new ways to pose and move their bodies in order to find even more pleasure and fulfillment.

Yoga increases flexibility and blood flow while also strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor area along with the sex organs thereby making for better, more powerful orgasms, and it can also play a role in curing men with premature ejaculation.

So, if you seek a way to transform your sex life and get closer to your beloved, Yoga could be the answer.

YOGA TIME

Five Ways Yoga Helps Creativity:

1. Yoga teaches you to test your boundaries, be brave, get know yourself and express it, just like art.

2. Yoga teaches joyful discipline, and art-making/writing needs that to see the light of day.

3. Yoga is a practice of being present, and whether writing or making art or making your day artful, its helpful to be in what you’re doing fully and completely and then let go of it when you’re not (aka how to avoid burnout).

4. Yoga gets you out of your head and into your body/breath/spirit so when you get back into your head its different in there. We are way more than our minds, and we need to be experientially reminded of that. The breath is a bridge to other places.

5. Yoga reminds us to plant seeds and let go of the results. Making art is similar. You do the best you can, but have to let go a lot, too.

Basic Yoga: Rabbit Pose

Stress can age you prematurely and deprive your skin of its natural healthy glow. The rabbit pose releases the tension in your back and shoulders all the way up to your neck and head.
Directions:
Kneel down. Lower yourself slowly so that you are sitting on your lower legs and feet.
Keeping your arms to the sides, lower your torso down to your thighs, and your head down towards the floor.
Press your forehead lightly to your knees.
Extend your arms backward and try to hold on to the base of your feet.
Inhale deeply.
Exhale as you gradually lift your hips.
Keep your forehead as close as possible to your knees and the top of your head near the floor or mat.
Contract your abdominal muscles and hold the pose for 5 seconds.
Relax and repeat.
Note: Cushion your head and knees with a folded towel

YOGA TIME

“Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that prevents our living in the most full and whole way. With yoga, we become aware of how and where we are restricted — in body, mind, and heart — and how gradually to open and release these blockages. As these blockages are cleared, our energy is freed. We start to feel more harmonious, more at one with ourselves. Our lives begin to flow — or we begin to flow more in our lives.”

YOGA TIME

I wish......
.....never going to happen.  If I got my body in this postion this is the way they would have to bury me, cause I would never get myself out of it.

8 simple ways we ALL practice yoga.

1. i pose. (asana)
I get on my mat and I strike a pose. There’s mountain pose, child pose, pigeon pose, happy baby pose, cat pose, lion pose, tree pose, bridge pose, triangle pose, hero pose. I bend backwards and forwards, I twist and bind, I push + pull, I hold and release, I flex and stretch. To put it simply, I move my body.
2. i breathe. (pranayama)
Sometimes it’s long and slow. Other times it’s fast and shallow. Sometimes I breathe through one nostril and out through the other. Some days I use my breath to detox and cleanse, other days I use it to cool me down. But I like it best when it sounds like the ocean and becomes my soundtrack. To put it simply, I inhale and exhale.
3. i sense. (pratyahara)
I feel sensations arising from moment to moment. They can be pleasant or unpleasant. Either way, my body is communicating with me and I’m finally starting to listen. I’m learning to trust her, because she’s the one that’s always here in the now.
4. i focus. (dharana)
I drop the distractions, I clear my mind and I concentrate. I forget about what just happened or what I need to do later. I drop it all so I can bring my mind to where my body is, the eternal now.
5. i observe. (dhyana)
I hold my seat and become the bare witness, the silent observer. It is here that there is no judgment, no attachment, and no reaction. I am aware.
6. i inquire. (niyama)
I keep an open mind. I question everything. I let go and make space for anything that is closer to the truth. I celebrate the mystery of life and embrace the art of not knowing. I dance to the beat of my own drum. I nourish my body and purify my mind. I indulge in radical self love and ignite my divine spark. But sometimes I get lost, and that’s totally okay.
7. i love. (yama)
I open my heart to give and receive. It’s filled with love, compassion, kindness, equanimity, and truth. Not always, but I’ve seen it many times before.
8. i bliss out. (samadhi)
When all of the above merge together in the exact same moment, magic happens. I am flooded with love, peace and joy. I am fully alive and awake. And most importantly, I remember.

YOGA TIME

Be empty of worrying.
Think of who created thought!
Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?
Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
Live in silence.
Flow down and down in always
widening rings of being.
~Rumi
